Origin: The original habitat of the dagger pigeon is the forests and jungles of the Philippine Islands: Catanduandes, Luzon and the Polillo Islands. The Philippine name is Punalada. This bird comes from the offspring. The Daggerpigeon owes its name, not entirely incomprehensibly, to the red or orange spot on its chest.
